Robert George "Roy" Clarke
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on March 18, 2018 at the age of 77. Loving husband of 55 years to his best friend Barbara (nee Rankin). Proud and devoted father to John and Monica Clarke, Karen and Guy Charpentier, and David and Allison Clarke. Adored Grandfather of Kaitlin and Jason Clarke, Alexandre and Nicholas Charpentier, and Emma Clarke, whom he loved with all his heart. Brother-in-law to Robert and Margaret (Stevens) Rankin. Brother of Maureen Whealy. Predeceased by his parents Robert and May Clarke. Caring Uncle to Tanya, Michelle, Steven and the late Alan. Wonderful and respected teacher at Port Perry High School for 30 years. Roy was a skilled basketball player, referee and coach. He was a talented musician playing the cornet or trumpet with his wife on piano at home, at church and seniors residences. He was in several bands including Salvation Army, Central Collegiate, Whitby Brass, Oshawa Civic and Durham Philharmonic. A special thanks to Dr. Ripple Dhillon and Nanci, Dr. Shannon Trainor, Dr. B. Banihashemi, Dr. Jeffrey William Martin and all the wonderful nurses and doctors at Lakeridge Health Oshawa Cancer Centre and Palliative Care Unit. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King St. E. on Friday, March 23rd from 6-8pm. Celebration of Life will be held at Kedron United Church on Saturday, March 24th at 3pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church from 2-3pm. Interment of cremated remains will be held on Saturday March 24th at Thornton Cemetery at 11am. Donations made to the Durham Mental Health Services, Durham Children’s Aid Society, Sick Kids Foundation, Kedron United Church or R. S.
