Obituary for Louise McQuarrie (Nieckarz)

Louise McQuarrie (Nieckarz)
Louise McQuarrie
January 8, 1926 – January 17, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louise Frances McQuarrie (Nieckarz) at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, at the age of 91.
Louise is now with the Lord and reunited with her beloved husband Clifford, who predeceased her in 2000 and son Paul in 1992. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Susan, son-in-law Todd Leask, Todd’s parents Bev and Bob Leask and Sister Tracey Leask.
Louise was the youngest daughter of Mary and Peter Nieckarz and was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Predeceased by her sister’s Mary and Angela and brother’s Stanley, Ben, Bill, Ed and Ted. Louise met her future husband Clifford while visiting her sister Mary and husband Peter Andrews in Hamilton. They married in 1952 and lived in Oshawa on Grassmere Avenue, where they raised their two children Susan and Paul.
Aunty Louise was much loved by her nieces and nephews in Winnipeg – Lenore, husband Don Davies and their children Amber and husband Brad Anderson, Cory Davies, Jonah Davies and wife Nicole; Len Andrews, wife Shelley and their children Perry, Stephen and wife Sara; Ellen Andrews (predeceased in 2016) and Patricia Andrews from Edmonds, Washington. Special thanks to Cousin Doug Armitage for his weekly visits and prayers for Louise and brothers Bob and Dan Armitage for their love and support.
Since February 2006, Louise’s home has been at Hillsdale Terraces. We will be forever grateful for the loving care Louise received from the nursing and PSW staff of Garden Gate and the other departments at Hillsdale Terraces. Louise enjoyed attending the church services, music programs, crafts and especially Chocolate Bar BINGO. Special thanks to RN’s Julie and Medea, Dr. Brenda Cairns, PSW’s Margaret, Rosie and Angela, Darlene and Paul (Recreation), Diane and Tammy (Hairdressing), Oliver and Lorraine (Physiotherapy) and Claudette (Dietary). We will remember the funny stories and sayings Louise had as her journey with dementia progressed. Thank you all for the friendship you have shown to Susan over the years.
Visitation for Louise will be held on Friday, January 20th at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (124 King St. E., Oshawa) from 6 – 8 pm and Saturday January 21st from 12 pm until the memorial service takes place in the funeral home chapel at 1 pm. Reverend Susan Genge will be presiding. A private family Interment will take place at Thornton Cemetery after the reception.
If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or Kingsview United Church would be greatly appreciated.
