Burden, Donald “Smoothie”
WWII Vet and long-time member (76 years) of the Oshawa Golf & Curling Club.
Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Sunday May 15th, 2016 in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Lois (Fogel). Loving father of Valerie McMann (late Fred). Devoted grandfather to Ryan (Stacey) and Robert (Helena). Cherished great-grandfather of Jackson, Luke, Maryn and Alex. Survived by sister-in-law Elva Allen and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Leslie and Edith (Witterick), brothers Robert (WWII), Douglas (Evelyn), and sister Gloria (Ed Allen). He lived a life of love and kindness and had a very generous heart to anyone he could help. He will be missed by his extended family and friends. We would like to thank Dr. S. Rahim and the nurses on 5G for their excellent care and Dr. K. Graham and Dr. P. Noble for their compassion and care over the years. A special thanks to his Saint Elizabeth PSW’s Collette, Danille, Roselle, Anna and his occupational therapist Tara for their help, care and support. Thank you Dad and Grandpa for everything you did for all of us, watching the game will never be the same.
Resting at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (124 King Street East Oshawa), where family will receive friends Thursday May 19th from 6-9pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Saint Elizabeth’s Oshawa/Whitby office, or Harmony Road Baptist Church would be appreciated.
